We began our journey with Cairns in 1997 with the purchase of my first Cairn, Tink, as a pet. It was this first Cairn that got me interested in showing dogs. I started out showing my girl in performance events where we titled in obedience and agility. Tink and I also became involved in therapy dogs.
Soon after attending this show, I acquired my first show dog, Marquees Cabaret. Who was to be followed shortly by a second girl, Ch Marquees Green With Envy. This girl was to become the foundation of my breeding program. Most of my dogs are of Scandinavian descent. I feel that these dogs best contribute to the attributes that I am working to achieve.
I breed only a litter or two every year or so. My dogs are bred, for good health, and temperament, as well as correct conformation and Cairn type. I believe in health testing all my puppies as well as dogs I choose to breed and show. In addition, I do a complete DNA health analysis on all my dogs that are currently being used to further my breeding program.
All of our puppies are well socialized before going to their new homes. I am a member of Cairn Terrier Club of America and the Cairn Terrier Club of Greater Detroit.
Here at Runrig our Cairns all live in our home, and are truly our best little pals!
I hope you will enjoy your visit. We welcome your questions about our dogs, as well as Cairns in general. As an obedience instructor, I also welcome questions pertaining to training your new pet and companion.
